Plot Fountain Alpha: the Carnival of Shadows

As I was working towards 50 last night with the gracious help of Felicia and Bombshell (in their level 50 alter egos of Bloody Tari and Dame Demolition) it occured to me that the Carnival of Shadows is virtually tailor-made to be a long term adversary of Sigma. All the leaders are female, they're sexy, they have that dominance mind control mask thing going on, they use men only for mooks, and "running away to join the circus" has got to be the direct opposite of "enrolling at the university."

I'm not a big fan of a "nemesis" or "archenemy" group for us, simply because such a thing is terribly hard to organize and maintain over the medium and long haul. Rather, I think the most successful supergroups in the comics have many foes whom they rotate through, preventing any single foe from becoming boring or sterile. In that sort of a set-up, the Carnival might be just one of several major foes of the school, alongside a hero team, a good organization like Longbow, and perhaps another villain team we might consider rivals.

I'll be doing more plot brainstorming over the coming days. But the Carnival of Shadows is definitely one excellent source of stories for us -- though as yet we have no particular reason to earn their ire, and as we think about one, it should be big, linked not to a single student, but to a member of the faculty or, ideally, to the very school as an institution.

((OOC))
I'm thinking it'd be a lovely idea.

The trick is... I've got alts in both the villainside and heroside Carnie groups, so it would be tricky to do any PvP.

However, Ali is on my alt account. So in RP situations, I could tag-team with a dual-instance run (logged into both accounts, playing both characters).

I heart Carnies, pure and simple; so I'm all for it. (For those of you not on during this discussion a few days back, the CoS really appeals to my little mind control fetish, so I always pounce at the chance of getting ensnared by a pack of Carnival folk)

I am with allisandre on this one. Aside from my own personal Mind control fetish, there is just something appealing about the carnival of Shadows. It was a story I was wanting to run but if it goes to a group story all the beter.

We need to get more exposure to the existing Carnie VG groups.

Carnival of Carnage

Commedia dell'Arte (AWESOME base)

are the two I know about.

Send a note to @'Rope in regards to a rivalry/plot, they may have ideas.

And yes... the whole 'enslaved to Carnies' fantasy gets me all tingly too.

Hmm... Carnies make a great archvillian to the Sigmas, like Nadja said, the whole school versus running away to the circus idea.

We could set up a storyline where the Carnies try to capture a student or two, and that would make for good RP purposes that the two groups would go toe to toe against each other.

Mind you, Carnies are higher leveled villian group, so we would need more Sigmas to hi the 35+ range to make the most of it.

But the plus side of having Carnies our arches redside is they actaully have a base of operations in St. Martial, which is very cool, by the way.

It breaks my heart to say it, but Commedia is no more, and hasn't been for about three months. Kali's Embrace was actually a member of it for a good long while (ending up at 2nd-3rd in commandish after Joie quit playing). The few people above me were inactive, and I was so despondant in playing Sandre in an empty theater that I rewrote her into her current incarnation.
*mourns Commedia*

Actually... Madame Lilith is trying to get it going again... not sure if she'll be able to pull it off.. but yes, the 'no one ever on' is why I pulled Bitter December out.

Huh... I went weeks without seeing anyone online within it. Actually, I don't think I actually SAW anyone come online; just last logins that would occasionally go prime. Even Lilith herself was almost to the 45 day boot point when she came back. Irregardless, I hope she can get some new blood in there. That is far too beautiful a base to go to waste.
